Furniture Bank
Furniture Bank is dedicated to helping people who have no resources.
No person should have to sleep on the floor in a country as wealthy as the USA. We will serve everyone, regardless of a person’s religion, race, ethnicity, or gender. As families’ move through the programs and transitional housing that helps them get back on their feet, they leave with little or nothing. Many can barely afford housing and food, let alone a bed to sleep on or a table to sit at.
Furniture is a basic need that determines how people feel about themselves and also how well they will perform in the work place.
How we will help: The furniture bank will be the source of furniture for agencies in the Tri-County area. Community Building Supply will collect and warehouse furniture for qualified member agencies. The furniture will be made available only to the clients of caseworkers, natural disaster and fire victims, and to families in need such as foster homes as a once in a lifetime event.
Not a New Idea: Furniture banks currently operate in other cities around the country. To date, National Furniture Bank affiliates have provided more than 50,000 beds, 25,000 sofas, and over 75,000 chairs. In the past ten years, furniture banks have served an estimated 92,000 families, representing 324,000 children and parents.
The estimated value of furniture provided exceeds $68,000,000.00.
